Program on market development and trade promotion of agro-Forestry products in the period 2001-2005
I. Objectives
Contribute to promote timely and effectively the consumption of agro-forestry products.
- Enhance the profile of Vietnam's agro-forestry products in the world market.
- Develop domestic markets into diversified, civilized and modern ones.
II. Contents:
1. Orientations for development of domestic market:
- Rural markets.
- Urban markets
2. Orientations for the development of export markets:
- Form strategy for important markets.
- Establish market-strategy for important product-branches.
3. Measures:
- Complete the policy system regarding consumption and export of agro-forestry products.
- Invest in construction of commercial infrastructure.
- Improve standard, quality and commercial prestige of agro-forestry products.
- Trade promotion of agro-forestry products.
- Train and improve capacity.
- Complete the system of market information.
- Enhance international cooperation in the field of agro-forestry products'trade.
- Strengthen coordination among Central Agencies and between the Central and Locality.
III. Implementing agencies:
1. Planning and Projection Department:
Roles and responsibilities:
- Monitor, summarize and analyze the sitution regarding consumption, export and import of agro-forestry products.
- Assist the Ministry in performing the role of state-management on agro-forestry products'trade.
- Enhance international economic integration in the field of agro-forestry products'trade.
- Summarize, monitor the program on trade promotion of agro-forestry products.
- Act as a contact point for domestic and international trade promotion organizations.

2. Information centre of agriculture and rural development (Icard)
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Collect, summarize, analyze and provide information on agriculture and rural development to serve forming strategies, making policies and exercising state management.
- Summarize and provide information about domestic and international technology regarding agriculture and rural development.
- Summarize and provide information regarding international cooperation in Agricultural sector.
- Participate in promotion activities of the Ministry.
- Cooperate with competent agencies in organizing training courses on information, market and trade promotion for officials of Ministry, Departments and Enterprises.
- Manage the library of the sector.

Roles and responsibilities:
- Marketing services, exhibition and advertisement for Agriculture and Rural Development.
- Organize and participate in the organization of domestic and international trade fairs and exhibitions.
- Provide services regarding domestic and international trade fairs and exhibitions.
- Act as the Agent for goods consumption.
